To read about me . . . please continue.

I’ve been writing poetry consistently since 1999, but I dabbled in it for about four years prior. My friend Nathan Caldwell and I started an alternative band in 1995. The WaLL JuMPeRs became my life for a very long time and everything I learned about music and songwriting I learned from Nathan.

It was his way with words that inspired me to actually write songs. Even though I wasn’t that good, I never gave up trying to pour my heart through music. Eventually I became the lead singer/songwriter for the band. We’ve produced a number of albums and a few of our songs are featured on Pure Volume.

It took a little while, but when I went to college I finally realized that song lyrics are poems. Surprise, surprise. It was then I fell in love with Shakespeare and Dickinson, Poe and Longfellow, Frost and Wilde. I wrote all day, every day.

At first it wasn’t about crafting the poem to perfection, it was more about honing my skill with meter, rhyme, and figurative language. For that reason, many of my poems are first drafts and need some tweaking. Since then, though, I devote more time into the crafting process; trimming away the unnecessary and finding the heart of the verse.

During college, I wrote about everything from the mundane to the life-changing. It was an outstanding process for me that revolutionized the way I looked at life, and the way I thought, felt, and communicated.

By 2001 I’d written 5 volumes of poetry and over 100 Shakespearean Sonnets. To date  I have 14 volumes and I’ve written over 200 sonnets.

My Poetry collections are:

1. My Life in a Book
2. Ivy
3. Coloring Book
4. Garden Verse
5. Lonely Fall
6. Before Me Lay
7. Let’s Try Something New
8. Evermind
9. Beautiful
10. Grace Period
11. Waiting
12. Moon Child
13. Small Things come in Good Packages
14. He Calls Me by My Name

Please read and enjoy my poetry, but please also comment. We’ll never grow without fertilizer, water, weeding, and pruning.

I want to grow, and you can help.
