“My Angel’s Smile” Sonnet 110
“My Angel’s Smile” Sonnet 110

JL
Morning’s born with talkative birds
And gentle early breezes.
Slowly sunrise breaks the world
Yet sun tis not the reason.
The light without from morning comes
Falls dark and pale before my Angel’s
Sweetest smile; which constant burns
Deep within my heart’s lost angles.
Eyes sparkle round with blinding light-
Hair shines with shimmered waters,
But here her smile (drawn from Heaven’s bright
Shore) fills my life with alters.
My Angel’s smile does now to me
Something ne’er may others read.

Kevin,
Your reverence to your muse in this piece is apparent with your endearing choiced words. This could be a love poem, but then again, it could be a poem of a parent for her/his child in reference to the angel and the morning both symbolic of youth. The use of the morning elements in this poem is refreshing, the sun and smile works well together giving the reader bright images of love and joy.
I am so used with Shakespearean and italian form of sonnet, so I’m not really which you used for this sonnet ~ please update me. My poems in sonnet forms:
1. Evanescent Romance
2. Memoir Of Our love’s Twilight
3 A Walk Around The Oval
4. My Heart My Closet
and
5. My Pen’s Dirge
Followed the discipline of the shakespearean sonnet. One thing that’s difficult for me to follow is the iambic pentameter requirement in a sonnet. Since english is not my first language, I’m tone deaf to the stress/non-stress elements. My poem, “A Walk Around The Oval” is the only piece that perfectly achieved it.
In spite the difficulty, I still find the sonnet form the finest and my favorite. Making me love to both read and write sonnets.
I wish you well.
