“Impromptu Sadness”
12/14/2007
I have a friend lost
In an unending tape-reel.
The “thwap, thwap” you hear
Is the sound of mistakes
Slamming her real
Into powdered shards of feel.
The damage done, multiplied
By repetition, stole
From her any vision of a rest.
Sleep; peace around the heart.
Instead burned deep with holes
Letting darkness rot her soul.
My love extension cannot
Communicate across the chasm
She’s erected into her world.
Like a mummy, tanned against
Time and shift, she stands
Whilst I partake inside her spasm.

“Say You Hate Me”
7/21/2000
Throw a dirty look,
Pierce me with those browns,
Fold your arms across your chest
And flash a painful frown.
Say goodbye to all my friends
And pretend that I don’t live.
All because I wouldn’t leave her
And give to you my love.
Say you hate me.
Beat me.
If that’s what it takes
To hurt me.
I’ll never leave the girl I love
For someone to be used by.
Even if your love was pure
I wouldn’t leave. I cannot lie.
If I should be sorry
‘Cause I do not love your face-
I can’t be charged as guilty
Since my love is placed
On a girl who shares my life
And, unlike you, may one day
Actually be my wife.

“Brand New Life”
8/19/2000
We stayed up last night talking about all those
Crazy fears you have.
There’s nothing that I can say and nothing that I can do
So you won’t feel so bad.
But listen my dear,
Please don’t ever fear
That you’re hurting me with your fright.
When all’s said and done
We both will have won
Because this is our new life.
This life has sprung
From the ashes of our past,
And this life will live on
As long as we have breath.
We’ve both been burned out once before-
But don’t back down from this open door,
‘Cause new life is here,
And you will always be my dear.
Our brand new life is here for good.
A long time ago there was another boy
Who tried to reach into your heart.
Before I knew you even had a name
Or you’d match my lonely part.
Then he reached in your soul
And took back his love
And left you to hang dry.
Now deep in your heart, you don’t want to fall,
And scrape your knees and cry.
This life has sprung
From the ashes of our past,
And this life will live on
As long as we have breath.
We’ve both been burned out once before-
But don’t back down from this open door,
‘Cause new life is here,
And you will always be my dear.
Our brand new life is here for good.
Yes, this is yet another song I wrote for the WJ’s.

“Perfect”
9/3/2000
I’ve seen the sun set behind the hills
Where the color blasts the earth with all it’s thrills of a miracle disguised.
I’ve seen the way the water drips off from
The greenest leaves in the dawn of the night’s sleeping eyes.
But the setting sun and moon’s paler glow
Can’t touch the rays that burn my soul inside.
There’s nothing more gorgeous than my girl
And all falls down dim to her perfect pale-blue eyes.
She has the most gorgeous eyes that I have ever seen.
Skies imitate her.
Crystals, diamonds, nature’s scenes like shadows fall
When her eyes meet mine.
When her blue eyes shine.
I’ve seen the stars and all the night-time lights.
Like celestial balls and hazes in the night that cover us in our dreams.
I’m sure that God had some kind of plan
When He formed the sun’s fiery span . . . He mirrored her sleep.
I’ve seen the smiles slip from other eyes.
I’ve seen the gleams that burn like autumn skies.
But there aren’t any blues or greens or browns
That don’t fall down dim to her perfect pale-blue eyes.
She has the most gorgeous eyes that I have ever seen.
Skies mirror her.
Crystals, diamonds, nature’s scenes like shadows fall
When her eyes meet mine.
When her blue eyes shine.
This poem is another song of The WaLL JuMPeRs from their album “So Close, but Yet.”
This may look like a photoshoot for an acid-metal band. . . but The WaLL JuMPeRs are actually an alternative rock group with a sentimental, folky sound. Check out the link for The WaLL JuMPeRs and listen to some of our music.
