Morning’s born with talkative birds
And gentle early breezes.
Slowly sunrise breaks the world
Yet sun tis not the reason.
The light without from morning comes
Falls dark and pale before my Angel’s
Sweetest smile; which constant burns
Deep within my heart’s lost angles.
Eyes sparkle round with blinding light-
Hair shines with shimmered waters,
But here her smile (drawn from Heaven’s bright
Shore) fills my life with alters.
My Angel’s smile does now to me
Something ne’er may others read.

“On Last Night in the Dark”

“On Last Night in the Dark”

In the dim, diminishing light
Of the crowded bus
Your eyes still sparkle, still shine,
Like crystals set in gold.

The bold betrayers of a heart
Weighted down in trust
Which would tear more than cry,
But still your smile’s shown.

With chin resting soft on the back
Of my seat you smile
And your whole sad cloud lifts
As our threads mingle and mix.

Tricking your heart to reply,
Your lips, golden, beams a while
While shade of red tips
My cheeks under compliment’s hits.

The swift night ends in heaven
With a promise to compile
A note to continue the night.
A smile says goodbye.

Almost gone, a call rings out
And I’m drowned in your voice.
Happy is the sound that feeds my love
And I dream of our life in the night.

“Hair Behind Your Smile” Sonnet 66

“Hair Behind Your Smile”      Sonnet 66
3/5/2000

JL

A simple act, subconscious wrought,
Captivates my constant stare.
I find I cannot stop
Me! When you slip your hair
Behind your smile, so sweet, so bright,
You toss your hair around your ear,
Showing eyes that shine like lights.
The motion makes me stare; the gentle act I care.
It’s not the fact I see your face,
So soft and beautiful. It’s more.
For some strange reason I lay
In the picture of the gentle flow.
Flick your hair behind your smile-
The moment I become a child.
