“Campfire”

Come home.
Put on your shoes and comb your hair.
I found you crying all alone,
I searched for mother but she was not there.
You cared for sunshine,
You cared for Autumn’s ruby burn,
You cared for inside,
You cared for my character . . .

But no one cared.
You gave up everything to love
The one who never knew you were there.
But now you comb your long blond hair.
You left the pain to those who live in deep despair . . .
Now come here. 

Your pain
Is hidden down in picture books.
Yet now you sing a new refrain.
You shame the devil with your skyward looks.
You cared for snowfall,
You cared for raindrop kiss’ed earth,
You cared when I called,
You cared even when you hurt . . .

And no one cared.
You loved the more even when your love
Was spurned and turned unfair.
But now your loneliness is spared.
You left the pain to those who live in deep despair . . .
You came here.

We stayed up last night talking about all those
Crazy fears you have.

This life has sprung

“Perfect”

I’ve seen the sun set behind the hills
Where the color blasts the earth with all it’s thrills of a miracle disguised.
I’ve seen the way the water drips off from
The greenest leaves in the dawn of the night’s sleeping eyes.
But the setting sun and moon’s paler glow
Can’t touch the rays that burn my soul inside.
There’s nothing more gorgeous than my girl
And all falls down dim to her perfect pale-blue eyes.

She has the most gorgeous eyes that I have ever seen.
Skies imitate her.
Crystals, diamonds, nature’s scenes like shadows fall
When her eyes meet mine.
When her blue eyes shine.

I’ve seen the stars and all the night-time lights.
Like celestial balls and hazes in the night that cover us in our dreams.
I’m sure that God had some kind of plan
When He formed the sun’s fiery span . . . He mirrored her sleep.
I’ve seen the smiles slip from other eyes.
I’ve seen the gleams that burn like autumn skies.
But there aren’t any blues or greens or browns
That don’t fall down dim to her perfect pale-blue eyes.

She has the most gorgeous eyes that I have ever seen.
