“Campfire”
4/13/03
DH
Come home.
Put on your shoes and comb your hair.
I found you crying all alone,
I searched for mother but she was not there.
You cared for sunshine,
You cared for Autumn’s ruby burn,
You cared for inside,
You cared for my character . . .
But no one cared.
You gave up everything to love
The one who never knew you were there.
But now you comb your long blond hair.
You left the pain to those who live in deep despair . . .
Now come here.
Your pain
Is hidden down in picture books.
Yet now you sing a new refrain.
You shame the devil with your skyward looks.
You cared for snowfall,
You cared for raindrop kiss’ed earth,
You cared when I called,
You cared even when you hurt . . .
And no one cared.
You loved the more even when your love
Was spurned and turned unfair.
But now your loneliness is spared.
You left the pain to those who live in deep despair . . .
You came here.

“Brand New Life”
8/19/2000
We stayed up last night talking about all those
Crazy fears you have.
There’s nothing that I can say and nothing that I can do
So you won’t feel so bad.
But listen my dear,
Please don’t ever fear
That you’re hurting me with your fright.
When all’s said and done
We both will have won
Because this is our new life.
This life has sprung
From the ashes of our past,
And this life will live on
As long as we have breath.
We’ve both been burned out once before-
But don’t back down from this open door,
‘Cause new life is here,
And you will always be my dear.
Our brand new life is here for good.
A long time ago there was another boy
Who tried to reach into your heart.
Before I knew you even had a name
Or you’d match my lonely part.
Then he reached in your soul
And took back his love
And left you to hang dry.
Now deep in your heart, you don’t want to fall,
And scrape your knees and cry.
This life has sprung
From the ashes of our past,
And this life will live on
As long as we have breath.
We’ve both been burned out once before-
But don’t back down from this open door,
‘Cause new life is here,
And you will always be my dear.
Our brand new life is here for good.
Yes, this is yet another song I wrote for the WJ’s.

“Perfect”
9/3/2000
I’ve seen the sun set behind the hills
Where the color blasts the earth with all it’s thrills of a miracle disguised.
I’ve seen the way the water drips off from
The greenest leaves in the dawn of the night’s sleeping eyes.
But the setting sun and moon’s paler glow
Can’t touch the rays that burn my soul inside.
There’s nothing more gorgeous than my girl
And all falls down dim to her perfect pale-blue eyes.
She has the most gorgeous eyes that I have ever seen.
Skies imitate her.
Crystals, diamonds, nature’s scenes like shadows fall
When her eyes meet mine.
When her blue eyes shine.
I’ve seen the stars and all the night-time lights.
Like celestial balls and hazes in the night that cover us in our dreams.
I’m sure that God had some kind of plan
When He formed the sun’s fiery span . . . He mirrored her sleep.
I’ve seen the smiles slip from other eyes.
I’ve seen the gleams that burn like autumn skies.
But there aren’t any blues or greens or browns
That don’t fall down dim to her perfect pale-blue eyes.
She has the most gorgeous eyes that I have ever seen.
Skies mirror her.
Crystals, diamonds, nature’s scenes like shadows fall
When her eyes meet mine.
When her blue eyes shine.
This poem is another song of The WaLL JuMPeRs from their album “So Close, but Yet.”
This may look like a photoshoot for an acid-metal band. . . but The WaLL JuMPeRs are actually an alternative rock group with a sentimental, folky sound. Check out the link for The WaLL JuMPeRs and listen to some of our music.

“I Promise You”
6/24/2000
I wish I lived back in fourteen hundred
Where they picked up swords and dueled each other.
Live’n way back then
I could save a princess or a friend,
Or I’d strike down a dragon
And lift you up by the hand
And carry you off into
A brilliant sunset.
I promise you.
I’d take you to my castle by the sea
And have you live there forever; safe with me.
I promise you.
I wish I lived in the darkest jungle
Where the lions rule and the people tremble.
Live’n way out there
I could swing down through the air,
Then I’d save you from their bloody paws
And I’d swing with you, safe in my loving arms,
And carry you off into
A brilliant sunset.
I promise you.
I’d take you to my castle by the sea
And have you live there forever; safe with me.
But I don’t live back in fourteen hundred
And I don’t think I could wrestle lions
But I promise you, if you need a hand or two,
I will run or ride right to your side
And save you from all the tears that make you cry,
And carry you off into
A brilliant sunset
I promise you.
I’d take you to my home right on my street
And have you live there forever; safe with me.
My princess girl and my angel sweet
No matter what I’ll always, always be . . .
Yeah, I promise you.
These are actually song lyrics to “I Promise You” as performed by The WaLL JuMPeRs. I hope to include a link where you can hear an acoustic version of the song.
